I am a self-taught artist, living in Woodstock, Virginia. I first began painting on rocks found in the yard as a fun pastime. Some of my first artwork was given to family members as gifts. These were used as paperweights, doorstops and mementoes. After being encouraged to continue painting, I began to paint on natural woods, slate and canvas. My subjects include animals, landscapes, Historical sites and wildlife. Some of my most renowned works are of Belle Grove Plantation, a historic attraction in Virginia. These are painted on original slates from the roof of Belle Grove. My studio is set in the lovely Shenandoah Valley with a view of the Alleghany and Blue Ridge Mountains, which have inspired some of my beautiful landscapes. I really enjoy turning nothing into something and the ability to transform a rock or other inanimate objects into a beautiful scene or memory. Saws, milk cans, rocks, glass, slate and more are all potential canvases.
I also will work with you to create a unique and one of a kind painting. I enjoy working with people and doing special commissioned artwork pieces.
